PVC Free Rigid Core PP Floorings Benefits
Introduction to Rigid Core PP Floorings
Just as SPC is a modified upgradation to LVT, a material innovation which has changed and repositioned vinyl floorings from semi rigid resilient to hard surface floorings, the PP floorings tiles are also created with the same conceptual practice to improve existing resilient luxury vinyl floorings.
Flooring Industry experts has commented that the trend for resilient vinyl floorings will eventually shift towards more environmental friendly materials, as such it is definite that there will be a time when the market fully turns for vinyl free LVT and SPC. Currently, the major manufacturers and factories are developing vinyl free composite in two directions, one is PET based and the other is PP based.
PP flooring tiles & planks are resilient floorings that is 100% made from polypropylene resin polymers with additive calcium carbonate (often refed as stone powder). The performance of PP flooring tiles (PP-SPC) compare with conventional SPC tiles are distinctively better as PP polymers has many improved properties that PVC does not have. These improved advantages includes in improved stability against temperature change, 100% toxic free and environmental safe, and more sustainable as polypropylene plastics are more easily recyclable and reused.
Improved Stability
No more Curling
While the physical properties of Polypropylene and Polyvinyl Chloride are not significantly different, PP has an operating temperature that exceed 82°C, where as PVC only reach up to 60°C. This means PVC are more vulnerable to expansion and contraction from extreme temperature change while PP does not.
Improved Material Safety
No more Toxicity
Polypropylene polymers are viewed as one of the most promising plastics used today as it has excellent physical properties, adaptability, and environmentally friendly record. In addition, as it contents no toxic substance, it makes PP floorings totally toxic free throughout its lifespans.
Improve Circular Economy
No more Waste
Polypropylene polymers are 100% recyclable and can be ground, melted and reused many times over without lost in performance. Polyvinyl Chloride, however, are more difficult to recyclable due to the chlorine as well as other hazardous additives content in PVC. Recycling PVC requires additional processes making it more costly and less sustainable.
