Dryback LVT are back into Market as Major Brands Target Rental & Multifamily Residential Markets

Introduction to Dryback LVT

Dryback Luxury Vinyl Flooring is a subcategory product under the Luxury Vinyl Tile products. Luxury Vinyl tiles can be manufactured in various of thickness and can feature different installations which needs different minimum thickness requirement. For example, for LVT that has uniclic edge for click & lock installation will need to be at least 4.0mm thick so it does not easily fracture after installation use. A Dryback LVT simply refers to Luxury Vinyl Tiles that are designed to be installed in Glue Down fashion. Therefore, it generally has thinner thickness from as thin as 1.0mm to 3.0mm.

As Luxury Vinyl Tiles are in semi-rigid form, Dryback LVT provides flexible and easy to cut for floor coverings, and due to its low price point, it is highly preferred by both construction projects as well as residents that are looking for mid to short term renovations.

Trend for 2023:  Glue Down Dryback LVT collections are launched to target mid to short term rental & multi-family renovation markets

Major Brands such as Mohawk, Taj Flooring, FloorFolio and Tarkett are launching entry price point LVT that offers in 2.0mm, 2.5mm and 3.0mm thickness to better target rental and multi-family residential markets.

This LVT product specification features a semi-rigid luxury vinyl flooring with 6mil (0.15mm) to 12mil (0.30mm) wear layer that is generally used in residential floorings. With LVT thickness under 2.5mm the wear layer will not go beyond 20mil (0.5mm) as the tile would not have sufficient dimensional stability. So if any suppliers are selling 2.5mm dryback LVT with 20mil (0.5mm) wear layer, its better to make sure you understand their stability test standards are.

A major advantage for going with dryback LVT flooring is that it does not need uniclic click & lock feature. This effectively lows the price point of the flooring as it does not need to pay a license fee for it.
